Despite the popular notion that math and science classrooms are culture-free and safe from the sorts of biases and inequities that crop up in other subject areas, a closer look reveals a variety of equity concerns to which math and science educators should attend. In this workshop, based on the equity literacy framework (strengthening educators’ literacy related to equity), we will explore those concerns, including matters of curriculum, pedagogy, student engagement, and classroom climate.
