This workshop is for third through fifth grade teachers who wish to have their students engage in an engineering challenge. The students will go through the steps of defining a problem, developing possible solutions and then testing various solution design to compare how well the designs solve the problem. The teacher and students will discuss and research where our drinking water comes from, how water is polluted and how it cleaned for human use. The students will about the negative effects that human can have on water quality and how a filtration system can remove or lessen the negative effects. In this challenge, the students will use commonly available material to design a water filtration system to remove pollutants in the water.
